WATCH: Colorado River at Ballinger on the Rise

 

BALLINGER, TX -- Thunderstorms on Wednesday created significant runoff into the Colorado River at Ballinger prompting the national Weather Service office in San Angelo to issue a river flood warning for Thursday. 

According to the NWS, the Colorado River is forecast to rise above flood stage this morning and continue to rise to near 18.7 feet by early afternoon.

The river will fall below flood stage by this evening. At 18.0 feet the river will be out of its banks and minor lowland flooding of pasture land will occur.

Thursday afternoon the Colorado River was running bank full below Ballinger. 

The river flood warning expires at 7 p.m. tonight.  

There was water standing in fields along U.S. Highway 67 between San Angelo and Ballinger Thursday from the thunderstorms.
