Texas A&M Task Force Called in Due to Flooding

SAN ANGELO, TX – The Texas A&M Task Force 1 (TX-TF1) was called into the city last night due to the anticipated extreme amount of rain.

The Task Force deployed to San Angelo and Abilene last night after being requested by the Texas Department of Emergency Management. Two squads of eight team members with the force were brought in to monitor the storm as it passed through.

The TX-TF1 functions as one of the 28 federal teams under the Federal Emergency Management Agency National Urban Search and Rescue System and as a statewide urban search and rescue team under direction of the Texas Division of Emergency Management. TX-TF1 also coordinates the state's swift water rescue program and the helicopter search and rescue team which works in conjunction with Texas Military Department.

The taskforce stayed throughout the night until they believed that local authorities didn't need their assistance. Now the team will chase the storm through central Texas down the I-35 corridor but they will continue to monitor the floods here in case of additional needs.
