SAN ANGELO, TX -- The National Weather Service Office in San Angelo has issued a Tornado Watch for all of West Central Texas until 5 a.m. Wednesday morning.
The threat of severe weather is real across the Concho Valley and all of west central Texas tonight as forecasters predict strong south to southeast winds gusting to 45 mph at times will affect western portions of the Big Country, Concho Valley and northern Edwards Plateau overnight.
The same area will be under a high wind warning from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday.
The National Weather Service in San Angelo says some of the cities that will be affected by the strong wind gusts will be Haskell, Abilene, Sweetwater, San Angelo and Ozona.
High profile vehicles traveling on west-east roadways such as Interstate 20, Highway 87, Highway 67 and Interstate 10 should be alert for strong crosswinds this evening.
Unsecured lightweight objects may also become airborne hazards.
As this weather system develops, forecasters with the NWS in San Angelo say they expect to issue additional watches and warnings for San Angelo and the surrounding area.
