SAN ANGELO, TX -- Dozens of the military's finest and toughest plunged into a frigid Lake Nasworthy Saturday morning as part of the annual Polar Bear Run and Swim.

According to Goodfellow Air Force Base personnel, the annual event includes a 5K run, a swim and a costume contest.

The temperature was 36 degrees when the brave men and women hit the water for a short swim at the Goodfellow AFB Rec Camp Saturday morning.

The military athletes completed the 5K run and then hit the frigid water.

The unit who had the most participants in the water got the annual polar bear trophy.  See the photos above.

The annual Polar Bear Run and Swim has been held each year at the Goodfellow Rec Camp since 2014.
