Cold Front Brings Threat of Flash Flooding and Much Cooler Temps

SAN ANGELO, TX -- The Concho Valley remains under a flash flood watch through Tuesday as a cold front brings additional rainfall and the season's coldest temperatures. 

According to the National Weather Service office in San Angelo, the Flash Flood Watch continues for Brown, Callahan, Coke, Coleman, Concho, Crockett, Irion, Kimble, Mason, McCulloch, Menard, Runnels, San Saba, Schleicher, Shackelford, Sutton, Taylor, and Tom Green counties until Tuesday morning. 

Rainfall amounts of one to three inches will be common and over four inches possible.

Cold surface air, brought by a cold front which passed through the area Sunday night, will continue to interact with an approaching upper level storm system to produce widespread rain across West Central Texas.

With the soil already very saturated, any additional rainfall may create flash flooding.

Scattered to numerous showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue across much of West Central Texas through mid morning.

Heavy rainfall and dangerous lightning will be possible with the stronger storms.

Minor flooding of low lying areas, low water crossings, and roadways will be possible where heavy rainfall occurs.

Hourly rainfall totals will generally remain below one half inch, with localized higher amounts possible.

There is a 70 percent chance of additional rainfall Monday and a 90 percent chance for Monday night and Tuesday.  

Temperatures will stay in the lower to mid 40s through Wednesday afterrnoon.
