Flood Warning Issued for The Llano River In Junction

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- The National Weather Service office in San Angelo has issued a flood warning for the Llano River area near Junction.  

According to the NWS, the river is currently rising quickly and is already at moderate flood stage early this morning.

The river will continue to rise today before starting to fall this afternoon and then below flood stage early tomorrow.

Flood Warning for the Llano River Near near Junction 2E. until Tuesday afternoon or until the warning is cancelled.
At  7:10 a.m. Monday the stage was 23.5 feet. Flood stage is 16.0 feet.Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.

The river will continue rising to near 30.4 feet by late this morning. The river will fall below flood stage early tomorrow.  At 22.0 feet moderate flooding will occur.

Roads and low water crossings will be flooded and impassible.

According to the Llano River flood history, this crest compares to a previous crest of 23.4 feet on July 11, 1988.

There is also a flash flood watch in effect for the entire Concho Valley through Tuesday morning.
