Cold Front Brings Rain & Cooler Temps to the Concho Valley Overnight

SAN ANGELO, TX -- The first cold front of the fall will pass through the Concho Valley Tuesday night and Wednesday bringing cooler temperatures and a good chance of rain Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service office in San Angelo, Isolated thunderstorms will be possible along and north of a San Angelo to Brownwood line late tonight. The main hazard will be dangerous lightning.

Isolated thunderstorms will be possible on Wednesday across the entire Concho Valley including the city of Sonora and Sutton County.

There is no mention of additional flooding from the NWS at this time.  

A strong cold front is on track to enter the northern Big Country by late Tuesday evening, then move south across the area overnight into Wednesday morning.

The front will usher in much cooler temperatures on Wednesday, with early morning temperatures ranging from the lower 60s across the Big Country, the mid and upper 60s across the Concho Valley and Heartland and the lower to middle 70s along the I-10 corridor.

Temperatures are expected to slowly fall behind the front during the day, dropping into the 50s along and north of a San Angelo to Brownwood line by afternoon and into the 60s across southern sections.  

With breezy north winds of 10 to 20 mph. Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will be possible late tonight and during the day on Wednesday.

Precipitation for the most part will be light, with most areas averaging between 1/10 and 1/4 inch, although isolated amounts around 1/2 inch will be possible.
