SAN ANGELO, TX -- (Press Release) Fort Concho on Saturday, April 7, will host a baseball symposium that will feature a presentation on vintage baseball, a quiz on the evolution of baseball parks and information about joining the Society for American Baseball Research.
The symposium, which is free to the public, will be from 10 a.m.-noon at the fort’s Living History Stables at Burgess and Flipper streets. Light refreshments will be served.
Cory Robinson, the fort’s curator of history, will speak on the game of the late 1800s and how vintage baseball is now re-created throughout the state. Fort Concho Manager Bob Bluthardt will host a quiz covering changes in baseball stadiums over the past 150 years. Those who earn top scores will win a baseball book. Door prizes will also be available.
Foster Communications Sports Director Jeremy Bryant will join the group via the internet from Kingsville, where he will be broadcasting an Angelo State University baseball game.
Symposium guests will also learn about the Society for American Baseball and San Angelo’s local chapter. For more information, call 325-234-0316.
