WEST MONROE, LA — A Duck Commander and Duck Dynasty leader has passed away.
Phil Robertson, 79, has died, his family confirmed on X. Robertson was a professional hunter and businessman but was most known for the A&E television program, “Duck Dynasty."
While Robertson started over NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Terry Bradshaw when he attended Louisiana Tech University, he chose not to pursue an NFL career over hunting and fishing. He wouldn’t stay out of the limelight as his business, Duck Commander, would be the main feature on Duck Dynasty. His business would grow into a multimillion-dollar brand.
Robertson met Marsha “Miss Kay” Carroway in 1964, and his personal life at the time was one of struggle. He became a devout Christian and raised his family under a heavy influence of God.
One of Robertson’s quotes is, “I turned from my wicked ways and embraced Jesus. The next thing I knew, good times had come my way."
Jase Robertson, one of Phil’s sons, said on X:
"My dad has gone to be with the Lord today! He will be missed but we know he is in good hands, and our family is good because God is very good! We will see him again!"
Robertson’s death was also confirmed on the Duck Commander Facebook page who said:
"We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord.
He reminded us often of the words of Paul, “you do not grieve like those who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.”
Thank you for the love and prayers of so many whose lives have been impacted by his life saved by grace, by his bold faith, and by his desire to tell everyone who would listen the Good News of Jesus.
We are grateful for his life on earth and will continue the legacy of love for God and love for others until we see him again.

Robertson’s brother, Silas Robertson, also known as Uncle Si, once said on a podcast that death is just a change of address.
