Igloo Recalls Over One Million Rolling Coolers Due to Fingertip Amputation Hazard

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Igloo has recalled more than 1 million of its 90-quart rolling coolers due to a defect in the tow handle that can pinch consumers’ fingers, posing a risk of fingertip amputation and crushing injuries, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The recall, announced on Feb. 13, 2025, affects Igloo 90 Qt. Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers manufactured before January 2024. The CPSC reported 12 incidents of injuries, including fingertip amputations, bone fractures, and lacerations. Consumers are advised to stop using the coolers immediately and contact Igloo for a free replacement handle.

The affected coolers were sold nationwide at retailers such as Costco, Target, Academy, and Dick’s, as well as online at Amazon.com and Igloocoolers.com, between January 2019 and January 2025. They retailed for between $80 and $140.

Manufactured in the United States by Igloo Products Corp. of Katy, Texas, the recalled coolers can be identified by their tow handle and the “IGLOO” branding on the side. Model numbers and manufacturing dates are imprinted on the bottom of the cooler.

Consumers can contact Igloo at 888-943-5182 or visit www.igloocoolers.com for more information on obtaining a replacement handle.
