In a statement, Trump said:

“I am pleased to announce that the Former ICE Director, and stalwart on Boarder Control, Tom Homan, will be joining the Trump Administration, in charge of our Nation’s Borders (The Border Czar”), including, but not limited to, the Southern Border, the Northern Border, all maritime, and Aviation Security. I’ve known Tom for a long time, and there is nobody better at policing and controlling our Borders. Likewise, Tom Homan will be in charge of all Deportation of Illegal Aliens back to their Country of Origin. Congratulations to Tom. I have no doubt will do a fantastic, and long awaited for, job."

Homan, somewhat famously, went back and forth with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on “zero tolerance” at the border and on Fox News said, “If you’re in the country illegally, you shouldn’t feel comfortable.”.

Homan started his career off in law enforcement in New York who rose through the ranks through Border Patrol and eventually, to the acting director of ICE.

That's great!  A man that knows all the jobs below him because he did them on his way up.  And now they have untied his hands at the top.
