SAN ANGELO, TX -- Americans celebrate the U.S. Constitution this week and the San Angelo TEA Party holds a special celebration Saturday at the Tom Green County Courthouse.
According to the Daughters of the American Revolution, the celebration began in 1955 and was signed into law by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The DAR says the purpose of Constitution Week is to emphasize citizens’ responsibilities for protecting and defending the constitution, inform people that the Constitution is the basis for America’s great heritage and the foundation of our way of life, and to encourage the study of historic events which led to the framing of the Constitution in September of 1787.
The San Angelo TEA party is hosting its celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Tom Green County Courthouse. According to the TEA Party, the event will feature patriotic music, dynamic speakers and free copies of the Constitution while they last.
