Petroleum Products: Toothpaste and Mouthwash

 

It’s no secret that plastics are made from petroleum products, but did you know that your toothbrush might not be the only thing containing oil in your morning routine?

In many popular toothpastes and mouthwashes, petroleum is used in the blue color dyes to give the appearance of being as ‘minty fresh’ as advertised.

Petroleum is also used in certain sweeteners in order to pep up the taste of toothpaste, which apparently wouldn’t taste too good without the addition of certain “flavors”.

There seems to be quite a bit of controversy concerning the inclusion of petroleum products (among other ingredients) in our toothpaste, but we'll leave those up to you to discover.
