DOOMSDAY CLOCK: Only 100 Seconds to Midnight

CHICAGO, IL – The threat of Nuclear war has never been higher than it is right now.

According to the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, as of Feb. 25, the Doomsday clock is set at 100 seconds to midnight. This is the closest the clock has been to midnight since its creation in 1947.

This is caused by the current situation between Russia and Ukraine. Also with China and North Korea essentially backing Russia the nuclear tension in the world is as high as it has ever been.

The clock started in 1947 at the end of World War 2 with seven minutes until midnight. During this year the Cold War ended and the Soviet Union was dissolved. The largest amount of time reported was 14 minutes in 1991. This occurred during the George H.W. Bush Administration.

Now only time will tell how long the 100 seconds to midnight will last.
