Cucumbers Recalled Across Texas Due to Salmonella Concerns

AUSTIN, TX — Consumers in Texas are urged to check their refrigerators following a recall of cucumbers linked to salmonella contamination.

The affected produce, distributed by SunFed Produce of Rio Rico, Arizona, was sold between October 12 and November 26 across several U.S. states and Canadian provinces.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the recall was initiated after cucumbers were tied to salmonella illnesses reported between October 12 and November 15. The outbreak spans multiple regions, including Alaska, California, Florida, and Texas, as well as parts of Canada like Alberta and Ontario.

SunFed Produce President Craig Slate stated, “We are working closely with authorities and the implicated ranch to determine the possible cause.”

The FDA advises consumers to discard the cucumbers if they suspect contamination, sanitize surfaces that may have come into contact with the produce and seek medical attention if symptoms like fever, diarrhea, or stomach pain develop. Concerned individuals can contact SunFed’s recall hotline at 888-542-5849 for more information.

Salmonella symptoms typically appear six hours to six days after exposure and can include nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. While most cases resolve in a week, severe infections may require hospitalization.
