FBI Tracking Fake Covid Vaccine Cards in West Texas

SAN ANGELO,  TX – As COVID-19 vaccine mandates increase across the nation the FBI has reportedly seen an uptick in fake vaccine card distribution across West Texas.

The Public Affairs Officer at the FBI El Paso division, Jeanette Harper, claims that one of the places the FBI is concerned about is West Texas.

"What we are concerned about is two-fold," said Haprer. "Just one that individuals are misrepresenting themselves as receiving the vaccine and putting yourself at risk and others around you at risk for COVID-19."

Since the release of the COVID-19 vaccine a number of people have attempted to corner the fake vaccine card market. Sites like Amazon and Etsy have been found to have users attempting to sell the cards.

In Dallas, on Aug. 21, a U.S. National Guardsman was arrested for selling fake vaccine cards for $150 a piece. He got clients for his newly found business by advertising on his personal Instagram account. Police eventually found him and arrested him. During the arrest DPD found over 80 fake vaccine cards.

It is against the law to purchase or reproduce COVID-19 vaccine cards. People can face up to five years in prison or a fine of $5,000 for copying an HHS seal. Also remember the vaccine is free. To sign up for yours today click the link here.
