Anti-Vaxxer Mom Pleads from Death Bed for Children to be Vaccinated

LA MARQUE, TX – A Texas family is facing the death of two family members after a mother and father contracted COVID-19 in July.

According to reports, Lydia, 42, and Lawrence, 49, Rodriguez were both hospitalized with complications in mid-July.

According to the GoFundMe set up for the family, Lydia was immediately placed in the ICU and on a ventilator where she remained for nearly a month. Her husband was originally put on oxygen and appeared to be improving, but would eventually worsen and had to be transferred to the ICU with his wife. He would later day during the first week of August.

At the time the GoFundMe was created, the couple was in critical condition and had slim chances of survival. Lawrence passed away on August 2nd and Lydia on August 16th.

For days the family hoped for a miracle as the couple fought for their lives in the intensive care unit.

According to family members, the couple did not believe in vaccines and were unvaccinated. Lydia eventually changed her mind about the vaccine –– but she was in intensive care at that point.

“Before she got intubated, one of the last things she told her sister was, ‘Please make sure my children get vaccinated," said cousin Dottie Jones.

The couple is survived by their children: 18-year-old twin boys, a 16-year-old son, and an 11-year-old daughter.
