Officials Issue City-Wide Boil Notice After Multiple Water Main Breaks

SAN ANGELO, TX -- The water crisis continues in San Angelo as city officials issue a city-wide boil notice after multiple water main breaks occurred due to the severe weather.

The San Angelo Police Department is asking drivers to avoid the following intersections as crews work to repair the water main breaks:

  • S. Irving & W. Twohig
  • 900 N. Browing & E. Harris Ave.
  • 209 Lipan & Paint Rock Rd.
  • 300 Blk. of Medina & Ardmore st.
  • S. Oakes & W. Avenue A.
  • 726 E. 37th St. & Crockett

According to officials, citizens in the areas approved for water usage must boil the water before consumption. This notice does not apply to neighborhoods that remain in the white and red zones after last week's contamination. Those areas remain under "do-not-drink” and “do-not-use”  orders, respectively.

"We are asking for people to assist the water utility by lowering their water usage to essential needs only. Do not use water unless you are using it to drink or cook after you have boiled it," said COSA in a statement. "If you are in the PaulAnn area, you are still under a do-not-drink notice. Please do not take baths or showers or use water for any non-life sustaining uses at this time."

The city stated they are aware a large number of San Angeloans continue to be without power due to the winter storm and that boiling water may not be possible due to no electric power.

Previously, the city advised citizens to drip faucets to prevent pipes from freezing. However, due to low water pressure and supply concerns, officials are asking residents to refrain from doing this as much as possible so water can be conserved.

Additionally, kitchen cabinet doors should be opened by the sink area to allow air to circulate. Residents with frozen or burst pipes should contact a plumber immediately.
