Covid-19 Hospitalizations Down in Abilene and Brownwood

ABILENE, TX – For the first time in six weeks, the COVID-19 hospitalization in Abilene's Trauma Service Area D has dropped below fifteen percent.

According to DSHS, on Thursday the reported rate was 12.07 percent.

While this is good news for hospital staff who have been overwhelmed for months, bars and restaurants remain closed or under reduced capacity until the hospitalization rate remains below fifteen percent for seven days straight.

Currently, the Hendrick Medical Center system has 78 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 -- there are 63 in Abilene and 15 in Brownwood.

There are currently no ICU beds available in Taylor County or all of Trauma Service Area D.

Trauma Service Area D includes Brown, Callahan, Coleman, Comanche, Eastland, Fisher, Haskell, Jones, Knox, Mitchell, Nolan, Shackleford, Stephens, Stonewall, Taylor, and Throckmorton counties.
