SAN ANGELO, TX -- As the rollout for the COVID-19 vaccine continues nationwide, San Angelo will receive more than one thousand vaccines this week.
According to the Department of State Health Services, San Angelo will receive a mix of both brands.
Moderna vaccines will be distributed to the two H-E-B pharmacies. Each location will receive 100 vaccines that will be administered to healthcare professionals.
"During this first phase of Covid-19 vaccine rollout, H-E-B pharmacies are scheduled to receive the Moderna vaccine to help vaccinate our community healthcare providers," said the store in a statement. "As a trusted source for all routine childhood and adult immunizations, H-E-B pharmacies will partner with the federal and state government to administer the Covid-19 vaccine when it becomes available to the general public, following the CDC distribution schedule. H-E-B is proud to continue our long-term tradition of taking care of Texans."
In addition to the 200 doses sent by Moderna, San Angelo will receive 975 doses of the Pfizer vaccine. Those vaccines will be administered by Shannon Pharmacy.
According to the DSHS, to date 42,248 Texans have received at least one dose of the vaccine. In Tom Green County 846 residents have received their first dosis.
More than 224,000 doses have been distributed to 203 counties in Texas.
