Catholic Priest Dies from COVID-19 in San Angelo

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – A priest with the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Angelo has died following a 3-day battle with Coronavirus.

According to the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Angelo, on Dec. 17, father Joseph Vathalloor has went to meet the lord after a short battle with COVID-19.

“We all dearly love him and miss him so much,” said Bala Anthony Govindu, a fellow priest. “He was gentle, kind, loving, caring, charitable, joyful, smiling, humble, and was always available to everyone who was in need.”

Father Joseph Vathalloor died three days after testing positive for COVID-19.

Vathalloor served as a parish priest for a number of churches around the Concho Valley including Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Eldorado. 

A vigil will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in San Angelo.

The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the same church.
