San Angelo Area Exceeds 15% Hospitalization Rate for the First Time

SAN ANGELO, TX – The Department of State Health Services reported Tuesday that Trauma Service Area K, including the city of San Angelo, has gone over the 15 percent threshold of hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

According to the Texas COVID-19 map from the DSHS, on Nov. 17, Trauma Service K had a hospitalization rate of 15.01 percent.

If the hospitalization rate continues on the same track, Gov. Abbott's executive order will begin reducing capacity at certain busineses including bars and restaurants.

Tom Green County Judge Steve Floyd has the power to regulate businesses in Tom Green County. If the hospitalization rate continues above 15 percent for seven straight days then the executive order will begin reducing capacity in bars and restaurants.

More coronavirus numbers are expected to be released later Wednesday.
