Midland City Council Votes Against Mask Mandate

MIDLAND, TX -- During Tuesday's city council meeting, Midland council members overwhelming voted against a mask ordinance.

Last week Mayor Patrick Payton announced he would be proposing a city-wide mask mandate at the next meeting.

During the meeting council members voted 6 to 1 against approving the mandate.

The city of Midland is currently experiencing a two-week  delay in reporting Covid-19 cases.

As of Monday, the department had confirmed a total of  6,576 total Covid-19 cases on November 4. The city blames the delay on staff dealing with contact tracing.
