San Angelo Posts Highest Daily Increase in COVID-19: 84 Cases

SAN ANGELO, TX – We hoped COVID-19 cases reported by the City of San Angelo on Independence Day weekend would show the numbers are dropping. We were hopeful Saturday when infections dropped below 40. However, Sunday, July 5, the report from the city-county health department broke the all-time record: 84 new cases of COVID-19 were reported. Hospitalizations rose only by two from 37 to 39.

On Friday, was the previous single day record of 41 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in San Angelo. That record was shattered Sunday.

Here is the report released July 5, 2020:

  • Total cases:  623
  • Active cases:  350
  • Currently hospitalized with COVID-19:  39 (up 2 from Saturday)
  • There are 35 positive cases of COVID-19 to report from Saturday, July 4, and 84 additional for Sunday, July 5.

Being that it is July the Fourth I have serious doubts that there are a lot of test being made. You've probably heard, "slow the Testing and the number of positive cases will go down" in reality the cases do not go down without the testing, they're just not reported. I expect the number of positive cases will spike after the holiday weekend is over.

Really?! In one day SA Live has determined the numbers are dropping. That’s funny because I always learned it was a pattern that had to be determined over time....not 24 hours. Not to mention I wouldn’t call going from 41 to 35 a significant enough of a drop to factor in its weight as a predecessor to the virus continuing to drop. SA Live, by posting an article and subject line as they did, are being irresponsible. Time to grow up SA Live. Think before you write something.

I tried to address your comment by suggesting you look into the publisher's twitter acct, but apparently I violated the terms here. No transparency allowed.

Please, follow me on Twitter. I follow the contrarian view of the COVID-19 situation. I believe, as does Brit Hume, that the shutdowns due to COVID-19 were the single largest public policy debacle in the history of the U.S. since perhaps the Civil War. I believe BLM is a Marxist-Leninist organization bent on overthrowing our government. I have money down that after Trump is voted out of office, whether that is Nov 3 or sometime later after weeks or months of massive upheaval and legal wrangling, that the narrative on COVID-19 will change dramatically. Good people to follow:

@alexberenson (https://twitter.com/AlexBerenson) - Former NY Times reporter who wrote contrarian book about how marijuana is causing a mental health crisis (or making it worse)

@bdomenech (https://twitter.com/bdomenech) - Publisher of The Federalist and Meghan McCain's hubby and

@brithume (https://twitter.com/brithume) - Fox News senior analyst.

You can follow me, too. @realjoehyde (https://twitter.com/realjoehyde). These are normal people who are seeking answers that aren't found in the wholly dishonest mainstream political press.

One thing Alex Berenson points out are the rising number of cases with steady to very slowly increasing hospitalization rates. In San Angelo, our cases increased by 84, hospitalizations increased by 2. The other stat to look at are death rates. Deaths aren't increasing nationwide while positive test results are, according to Nate Silver on Twitter: Newly reported deaths Today (T): 209 Yesterday (Y): 306 One week ago (6/28): 271 Newly reported cases T: 43K Y: 52K 6/28: 42K Newly reported tests T: 654K Y: 645K 6/28: 586K Positive test %: T: 6.5% Y: 8.1% 6/28: 7.2%

New infections "dropping", hospitalization up how many? More testing would make the hospitalization rates seem less intense...you can fake a covid test, you can't fake hospitalization...

84 cases, what a surprise! Looks like a Father’s Day special to me. Like If you didn’t see that comin? Wait till Friday when you see the July 4th special, COVID coming to a neighborhood near you staring morons that partied without masks.

Is this the Father's Day surge? We need to provide a lot of support for the EMTs, paramedics, nurses, and doctors who are dealing with this surge in such a small county as ours, because we know there's going to be an Independence Day surge. Not one single mask at the GSRHA doo-dah parade, but it was ahead of the mandate by one day. What about the 5K in Christoval? Maybe if those folks get sick they can go to the Christoval Hospital. I hope and pray that the hospitals don't get so short of beds and personnel and PPE that they have to triage the cases. In the meantime if you won't wear a mask for your grandmother, grandfather, mother, father, sister, brother, minister, restaurant owner, or grocer, please wear one for your hospital.

If we use up all the masks, what will the hospitals use? Besides, cases are subsiding, hospital beds are free, and the virus only causes severe reactions for a very small minority of people.

Shannon and other medical facilities are giving away masks and surgical gloves, I suppose they know what they are doing.

Find the publisher's twitter acct and you'll understand why. Science is out, the hoax is in, and apparently bars should be reopened because recovering addicts might relapse and OD if they're out of work. Very logical. Please tell me my hometown hasn't turned into this.

How many of this are fake, all over the internet people are sending brand new test back and are receiving positive results how is that possible

Goodness Rita. Catch up! it’s been around for at least six months we all know how to make one by now. Lol

My family lives in San Angelo. I was born and grew up there. I am an educated science geek and I am worried about my at-risk parents. Please drop the politics and get real. If you're uncomfortable doing so, find a health expert who can.

Mr. Green was hoping this covid-19 would "disappear" in a week so that he could go full on pucker on trumps #!%.

... when out in public. It's been proven that even a cloth mask like a Bandana mask will stop the small droplets that dispense from your mouth of from anyone else that's talking to you from getting into your nose and mouth. Now the experts say if the droplets even get in your eye or eyes you can be infected with the virus. So, that's where social distancing of six feet or more comes into play. The experts say those droplets do not travel that distance in the air although I did read an article by just one so called expert that stated the droplets can travel up to a distance of 10 to 13 feet. The expert didn't say whether if the wind or air flow would be a contributing factor in the article. With all that said ... even if the virus is no worse than a Flu ... who wants the Flu anytime... not to mention the hot summer weather we have in this area of the country. My thoughts are ... wear any kind of mask that stops those droplets... just while out in public. Every little bit helps in stopping or slowing down the spread of the virus. Now, some people are going to do just whatever they want to and say ... "I don't think I "Should" have to wear a mask or any kind while out in public.
Well ... if you feel you can get away with it... then nobody's going to try and stop you ... but ... remember this if you will ... "Just because you can, don't mean you should!" Which that sentence reminds me of a song I listened to on YouTube sometime ago...

Joe Bonamassa Official - "Just 'Cos You Can Don't Mean You Should" - Redemption: https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=XbNgt8jh9io

Go ahead and give it a listen ... and enjoy your time at home with your family and give finding music on YouTube or whichever source you choose as a way to spend some relaxing time at home ... believe me ... it helps get your mind off of all the B.S. that's going on in our Country and around the world these days! Stay safe be kind to others and try wearing the mask. Who know ... the life you save from the virus... might be your own!

Wait till 11th? Or so for the fun run numbers to come in wink wink open the park just for that then close bs close it period oh wait I forgot bill ford ass kissers talk about some that NEED to get it

And don't forget that the CDC is now admitting that as much as 50% of the tests being deemed "Positive' are being found to actually being "False Positive"...... So just about anywhere you see somebody throwing out a total number of cases to further scare the sheep, cut that number in half to get closer to the amount of people who actually have this seasonal allergy they are calling COVID-19.......

after MONTHS of paranoia. Are we done freaking out yet or not? We're not even at 1% of our total population. What a crock of poopie 1 PERCENT!!
