Corona Virus: Texas Hits 5,000 New Cases In One Day for First Time

AUSTIN, TX –  In an announcement Tuesday, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott confirmed that Texas surpassed 5,000 new cases in a single day for the first time since the start of the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The announcement Tuesday marked a troubling new milestone for the state as the largest pediatric hospital in the U.S. begins accepting adult patients in order to free up bed space in Houston for other area hospitals.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease expert, warned lawmakers in Washington on Tuesday that “the next couple weeks are going to be critical” in Texas, as well as the other states that are trying to battle alarming spikes in new coronavirus cases including New York, California, and Illinois.
