Coronavirus By The Numbers: 1.5 Million Cases in 106 Days

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Over 100 days after the first COVID-19 cases were confirmed in the state of Texas, the Department of State Health Sevices has confirmed 1,560,537 positive cases.

According to DSHS, the state has reported 2,062 fatalities in that same time frame, with 33 new fatalities were confirmed on Wednesday. Over 1.3 million of the positive cases have been confirmed using viral tests, while the 152,796 were confirmed using antibody tests.

The three counties with the highest case counts are Harris County (17,707), Dallas County (14,843), and Tarrant County (7,642).

Out of the 254 counties in Texas, 237 have reported positive coronavirus cases. Of the 234 counties that have reported cases, 67 counties have less than ten cases, while 19 counties have reported over one thousand cases.

The top three counties with coronavirus related deaths are Dallas County (293), Harris County (198), Tarrant County (198).

An estimated 62,368 recoveries were reported by the department and 31,905 estimated active cases.
