Appointments for Free COVID-19 Testing Open Friday

SAN ANGELO, TX – The City of San Angelo has released an update on the free COVID-19 testing that will be offered by the Texas Military Department this Saturday.

Testing is only available with an appointment and the window to schedule will open Friday, May 15.

The testing center will be open from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16 at the McNease Convention Center.

Those interested may call and make an appointment at 512-883-2400. Community members that show up to the convention center without an appointment will be asked to wait until all appointments are finished.

Citizens do not have to have symptoms to be tested. Tests will be sent to a lab and processed; results have a turnaround timeframe of two to seven days later. The turnaround time could vary due to testing volume.

The Texas Military Department is operating rural testing sites throughout the state in partnership with the Texas Division of Emergency Management, Texas Department of State Health Services, Texas Emergency Medical Task Force, Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and Texas A&M Agrilife Extension.
