ODESSA, TX – Ector County officials announced that pools will not be allowed to open in response to the social distancing guidelines that are currently in place in the Permian Basin.
According to CBS7, even though no evidence suggests coronavirus through pools, the Ector County Health Department does not want to risk having large gatherings.
As the summer months fast approach, many members of the community will have to forgo a swim in the pool until further notice. The announcement applies to all local pools that can allow a large group of people to congregate. No specific date has been declared as to when pools will be allowed to reopen.
Park Plaza Townhomes manager Cheri Swingle stated she agreed with the health department’s decision, but she knows her tenants would be missing access to the pool.
“Yes, Yes I do especially for us because it’s not going away,” Swingle said. “My residents are so sad about it. I’m thinking about putting out slip-n-slides and stuff like that for the kids.”
Swingle also stated she would look for ways to help her tenants have fun while social distancing, including cookouts.
“That’s exactly what I was planning on,” Swingle said. “An ice cream social, a hot dog and hamburger cookout. I’m going to do that for them.”
