ABILENE, TX – Officials with the Abilene Independent School District announced Thursday that graduation ceremonies for its three high schools will be held in on July in person at Shotwell Stadium.
According to KTXS, all three ceremonies will be live-streamed and an inclement weather plan is in place for all three ceremonies.
The ceremonies are scheduled at the following times:
- Abilene High School: July 17 at 8 p.m.
- ATEMS: July 18 at 8:30 a.m.
- Cooper High School: July 18 at 8 p.m.
If the ceremonies need to be postponed, they will be held on July 19th (for one ceremony) or July 24-25 (for multiple ceremonies).
AISD is consulting with local health officials and following all health guidelines to ensure they are not in any violation of any guidelines governing group size or gatherings that might be in place at that time.
Abilene High and ATEMS will also be hosting virtual graduations on Saturday, May 23rd and Cooper High will broadcast their virtual ceremony on Sunday, May 24. The district will use these virtual ceremonies to honor the district’s top graduates and award winners.
Ceremonies will be conducted via Zoom or posted o the AISD-TV Venmo channel so families and friends of the honorees can watch online.
On Monday, May 4th the district will announce the Top 25 graduates from Abilene and Cooper High and the Top 10 percent graduates of ATEMS. The district will also host a virtual Baccalaureate ceremony on Sunday, May 17, at 2 p.m., the original date and time for the in-person celebration.
