BRECKENRIDGE, TX – An elderly man has become the first confirmed case of coronavirus in Stephens County on Friday.
According to KTXS, Stephens County Judge Mike Roach confirmed the patient is currently quarantined at home.
"We were ready for this. We knew there wasn’t a Buckaroo bubble that was going to stop COVID-19 from coming to Stephens County," said Roach. "We knew this day would come. Let’s move forward with hope. We’ve always said it’s facts over fear. We’re in this together. We’re going to make it through it.”
Stephens County has currently administered 19 tests and 18 have returned negative.
Stephens Memorial Hospital set up a triage line that allows patients with questions or concerns regarding COVID-19.
Those who are exhibiting symptoms will be directed to speak with a registered nurse that will provide further instruction. The phone number is 254-559-2241 ext. 1315.
