Coronavirus: Brownwood Confirms 4th Positive Case

 

BROWNWOOD, TX – The Brownwood / Brown County Health Department confirmed a fourth case of COVID-19 on Friday. The patient has been identified as a grocery store employee of Brookshire’s.

According to KTXS, the patient is a female in her 40’s and is currently in quarantine. The patient has not traveled internationally or had exposure to a known case.

The patient worked her last shift at Brookshire’s on March 30th and the Health Department is asking anyone who shopped at Brookshire’s from March 28-30 to self-quarantine for 14 days.

Those who develop symptoms such as fever, dry cough, shortness of breath are urged to contact their primary care physician and notify them of their exposure to Coronavirus.

Brookshire has decided to temporarily close the store and they will be hiring a professional company to clean and sanitize the entire store. They will reopen when they are “confident that any potential exposure has been eliminated.:

This is a breakdown of the confirmed cases so far.

  • March 18, 2020 – female in her 60s, exposed by traveling outside of the county
  • March 20, 2020 – male in his 70s, unknown exposure
  • March 25, 2020 – male in his 50s, traveled outside of Texas
  • April 3, 2020 – female in her 40’s, unknown exposure

Brown County has conducted 70 COVID-19 tests, with 56 negative results. Four cases have been confirmed, ten are pending, and two patients have recovered.

The health department has set up two hotline numbers for members of the community, the numbers are 325-642-2635 and 325-430-5933. The hotlines will be available from 9:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

A health department employee can perform a health screening over the phone and answer questions. Those who are deemed to be at risk or require a higher level of care will be directed to the appropriate resources.

Phone screenings help reduce congestion in medical facilities and allow social distancing measures to be enforced.

If patients are planning to visit their physician they are asked to call before arriving.
