SAN ANGELO, TX – Harris County and the City of Houston have issued a stay-at-home order. The order will require most businesses to close and directs “residents to stay put except for groceries and errands in the latest measure aimed at slowing the spread of the novel coronavirus.”
According to the Houston Chronicle, the new order provides the strictest guidelines since Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo and Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner closed bars and limited restaurant activity.
As in other counties, “essential businesses” will remain open and citizens are required to avoid congregating in groups with more than ten people.
If a Harris County resident tests positive for the virus, their whole household will be ordered to remain quarantined. There are currently 27 confirmed cases in Harris County, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.
