St. Paul Presbyterian Church Packs, Delivers Over 300 Food Gift Boxes for San Angelo Families in Need

SAN ANGELO, TX — Church volunteers packed the annual Christmas Boxes program at St. Paul Presbyterian Church over the weekend.  The church purchases over 12 tons of food from community partners like the food bank and H-E-B, and assembles and distributes the food to over 300 needy families in San Angelo to get them through the holidays.  

Volunteers began the task Friday night at the church.  The sight was of an assembly line of 50 to 60 volunteers who formed an endless circle throughout the church.  Each volunteer started with an empty box in a shopping cart and took the box through a series of stations or rooms procuring various canned goods, produce, meats, breads, etc.  

Once full, each box was sealed, and the volunteers stacked the completed boxes on the rows of tables before grabbing another an empty box to start the process again.  

On Saturday morning, another group of volunteers met to deliver boxes to the families who don’t have the means to pick them up.  

To determine who gets a box, the church works with the counselors in the San Angelo ISD who assist identifying many of the recipients. The church also receives nominations from other social services agencies in the city. This is a great program that truly demonstrates our community spirit and compassion.
