H-E-B Customers Can Donate to Cancer Research

HOUSTON, TX -- (Press Release) H-E-B announced its third annual fundraising campaign with The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center to help create a future free from cancer. Through Sept. 11, H-E-B customers will have the opportunity to make $1, $3 and $5 donations at the register. During its campaigns over the last two years, H-E-B has raised more than $650,000 for MD Anderson.

"H-E-B is proud to support MD Anderson as they work to make cancer history both during this special campaign and throughout the year," Winell Herron, group vice president of Public Affairs, Diversity and Environmental Affairs, and a member of the MD Anderson Cancer Center Board of Visitors said. "The support from our H-E-B customers and partners in this fundraising effort goes a long way in the fight to end cancer."

In U.S. News & World Report's "Best Hospitals" survey, MD Anderson ranked first for cancer care. Its sole mission is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation and the world. Last year, more than 137,000 patients sought care at MD Anderson, 44,000 of whom were new patients.

"MD Anderson is honored to partner with H-E-B, a great Texas company that has served the people of this state since 1905," MD Anderson Peter W.T. Pisters said in the release. "We appreciate H-E-B's leadership, employees and customers who share our commitment of Making Cancer History for all Texans and people around the world."
