Flu Season Continues to Affect Blood Donations

SAN ANGELO, TX — The flu season continues to impact blood supplies. The United Blood Services is asking people who are healthy to step up and take the place of donors who are fighting the flu.

Goodfellow Air Force Base will host their Operation Warm Heart Blood Drive on Monday, Feb. 19 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Freddy’s Custard and Steak Burgers.

Donors will get an Operation Warm Heart T-shirt, Cinemark movie pass, and a free custard sandwich from Freddy’s.

Operation Warm Heart is a Goodfellow AFB nonprofit organization that helps military students pay for flights home for funerals and other life emergencies. Freddy’s will donate 15% of proceeds to Operation Warm Heart from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. United Blood Services will add 700 additional HERO points to blood donors who eat at Freddy’s during this time.

Another blood drive coming up is the ICON Cinema Black Panther Blood Drive, tomorrow, Feb. 20, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Donors will get a Black Panther T-shirt, 2 admission ICON Cinema movie tickets, and a Chick-Fil-A Coupon.

United Blood Services Donation Center is also taking appointments or walk-ins during their hours of operation. Their location is 2020 W. Beauregard.

Get out and donate blood.
