SAN ANGELO, TX – Partnering with the American Cancer Society,La Esperanza Clinic will be offering the citizens of San Angelo a unique opportunity to learn more about the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and the serious health effects it can cause. La Esperanza Clinic will be offering a free showing of “Someone You Love: The HPV Epidemic” at Cinemark Tinseltown this Saturday in hopes of further educating residents of San Angelo on HPV
The movie follows the lives of 5 women who are currently living with the virus. Those who attend will have the chance to meet Christine Baze, who is featured in the film. Baze will be available at the screening to answer questions and perform her original song featured in the film.
HPV is a very serious virus that can causes up to 6 types of cancers and can be prevented through vaccinations. In an effort to increase awareness and promote the vaccine, La Esperanza Clinic is offering this event as a free event and open to the public. The American Cancer society estimates that over 9,000 new cases of HPV are diagnosed each year.
“Nothing makes more common sense than to protect ‘someone we love,” Mike Campbell, CEO of La Esperanza Clinic, said.
The clinic has acquired the biggest theater available at Tinseltown and invites the public to learn more about how a simple vaccine could make a difference. The movie will begin at 7:00 p.m.
