November is National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month, and the Springs Alzheimer’s Special Care Center in San Angelo will be offering Alzheimer’s disease in-services to local businesses and community service professionals, said a press release Wednesday.
According the press release, the 2015 Facts and Figures report published by the Alzheimer’s Association shows that every 67 seconds someone in the United States develops the disease. There are also 5.3 million people in the U.S. living with this disease currently, and the toll Alzheimer’s disease takes on families and communities is increasing every day.
Because of the increase in diagnoses, the demand for educational resources increases for family caregivers, local businesses and community service professionals, hence the motivation for the agency providing in-services and resources free of charge this month. The press release stated in-services and resources are designed to equip local community members to respond compassionately to local residents living with memory loss.
The Springs Alzheimer’s Special Care Center is an assisted living community specializing in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
