Dakota Poorman is Just a Hippie at Heart
SAN ANGELO, TX — Dakota Poorman has been in the music business for over three years and his sound and talent have positioned him to make a run at music business stardom. Luckily, we were able to interview him before he made the big time. He's going to be one to watch!
His second single, “Hippie @ Heart,” dropped this month and he’s venturing outside of his home turf of the Pacific Northwest to share his sound. This weekend, he was headlining at The Deadhorse, 210 S. Chadbourne St.
“Hippie @ Heart” is a party song, Dakota said. He wrote it in about 40 minutes of intense songwriting prowess that he explains in the video here.
Dakota joins a line of artists in the country rock and country genre who are making inroads on the Texas Country circuit. He also performed at Mo’s Place in Katy on Saturday and was in San Angelo Sunday. Other Pacific Northwest artists who have made a name in Texas include the Braun brothers, Reckless Kelly and Micky and the Motorcars.
He gave the rock-and-roll venue The Deadhorse a good taste of country rock.
Watch as Dakota talks about his life and how a Pacific Northwest rocker can fit in the Texas Country/Red Dirt scene.
