WATCH: Cooper's Bar-B-Q Hosts Huge Concert Despite CDC Guidelines

CHRISTOVAL, TX – Over 600 people showed up to Cooper's Bar-B-Q Saturday night to enjoy a live concert by San Antonio's Two Tons of Steel.

On May 16, Mark and Kim Cooper brought in multiple bands and invited the community to come out BYOB style and have a good time.

"Over here our motto is Be Safe and Live Free," said Mark Cooper on what made him open up to such a large crowd. "Tonight was to open the gate, let people get out, get some sun, and live free."

Cooper's reported that around 600 people came through the doors but since they have a 2 acre concert venue they didn't seem to worried about the CDC guidelines. "We have tons of activities and space for people to spread out." said Cooper.

As for Kevin Geil, lead singer of the Two Tons of Steel Band, he is just happy to be playing music again. "There is not a whole lot of these venues." said Geil. "Thank God we got to play tonight because I couldn't take another Saturday night on the couch in San Antonio.'

Cooper's Bar-B-Q will be holding another concert this Saturday.

Sorry but this is just plain stupid, people doing things like this will actually end up slowing our return to normal. Sticking that many people in a little area, combine drinking and sharing bathrooms designed for a crowd of 60 and one sick person can cause an outbreak and guess what we all go back to square one. We were getting sun here in Christoval until the crowds packed our river one weekend and because of that we lost the ability to enjoy the river and I for one don't feel like back tracking because someone wants to line their pockets at our expense. The business in San Angelo at great cost are following requirements set by the State but I guess if you feel you are far enough out of the San Angelo city limits who is going to stop you. Hate to vent but ready to spend time with my grand-kids doing what grandparents are supposed to do but some idiots take a foot when given an inch and mess it up for everyone.

I will not dine-in anywhere for several months until the second wave, which will come much sooner and harder, has come and gone. No movies, nightclubs and Wally World as rarely as possible, and wearing a mask at that. These bozos are going to kick start the next lock down before summer is over.
Some folks are indeed intelligent and realize the danger we're facing, but people as a species, continue to show their unbelievable ignorance.
Meanwhile, I think I'll keep cooking gumbo.
