HOLLYWOOD — The trailer for the next Tom Cruise film has been released online.
Digger, directed by Alejandro G. Inarritu, has already been talked about as one of this year’s best films and could possibly nab actor Tom Cruise his first Oscar win in another Earth-shattering disaster film.
Right now, the synopsis simply reads:
The most powerful man in the world (starring Tom Cruise) embarks on a frantic mission to prove that he is humanity’s savior before the disaster he unleashed destroys everything.

Inarritu, who won Best Director, Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay for Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), and Best Director for The Revenant, sits in the director’s chair as Tom Cruise, who plays Digger Rockwell, commands the screen.
Cruise isn’t the only heavy hitter in the cast as that includes:
- John Goodman (O’Brother, Where Art Thou?, The Big Lebowski) as the President
- Sandra Huller (Project Hail Mary)
- Jesse Plemons (Breaking Bad, Bugonia)
- Riz Ahmed (The Sound of Metal, Venom)
- Michael Stuhlbarg (Men in Black III, Dopesick)
- Emma D’Arcy (House of the Dragon)
Digger drops in theaters on Oct. 1, 2026.
