ETERNIA — A full trailer for Masters of the Universe has dropped online.
On June 5, 2025, He-Man will have the power to return to theaters in Amazon’s Masters of the Universe. The official synopsis reads:
“In Masters of the Universe, director Travis Knight brings the legendary franchise back to the big screen in this epic live-action adventure. After being separated for 15 years, the Sword of Power leads Prince Adam back to Eternia where he discovers his home shattered under the fiendish rule of Skeletor. To save his family and his world, Adam must join forces with his closet allies Teela and Duncan/Man-At-Arms and embrace his true destiny as He-Man – the most powerful man in the universe.”
Masters of the Universe has spent quite a bit of time in “development hell” as directors have been attached to the project since 2007. Those were never greenlit, and the project ended up changing hands from Sony to Netflix and, finally, Amazon/MGM Studios. Of course, the movie is based on the famous Mattel toys from the 1980s.
Director Travis Knight usually does animation work as he was the shot caller on Kubo and the Two Strings and Missing Link. His first live-action film was the transformers spin-off “Bumblebee."
The cast of Masters of the Universe includes:
- Nicholas Galitzine (The Craft: Legacy, The Idea of You) as Prince Adam/He-Man
- Camila Mendez (Palm Springs, Upgraded) as Teela
- Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club, Tron: Ares) as Skeletor
- Idris Elba (Thor franchise, The Suicide Squad) as Duncan/Man-At-Arms
- Alison Brie (Community, The Disaster Artist) as Evil-Lyn
- Morena Baccarin (Deadpool, Greenland) as Sorceress
- James Purefoy (A Knight’s Tale, John Carter) as King Randor
- Charlotte Riley (Edge of Tomorrow, London Has Fallen) as Queen Marlena Glenn
Masters of the Universe is set to hit theaters on June 5, 2026.
