SAN ANGELO, TX — John Teague, head of the Teague Brothers Band, is riding high as his latest single, "Fire," from the 2025 record *Wish You the World* debuted high on the Texas CDX Traction chart. It's a ballad in which Teague laments that he's going to "burn it all down" after discovering he was in love with a liar. John has a wife and swears the song is NOT autobiographical.
"She'd get a kick out of this conversation," he said.
The Teague Brothers Band has been around since the Covid shutdowns. They have a sound akin to the Turnpike Troubadours, albeit Teague hails from Winnie in southeast Texas between Beaumont and Houston along I-10, not Oklahoma. He has since relocated to the Fort Worth area to capture the northern route of the Texas Country Music circuit.
With the new record out, John and the band have been heavily touring. After Friday's show, the band is headed to Midland.
John is a veteran from the U.S. Army. He spent four years, on and off, in Iraq. He said that basically, he felt like all he did was drive around avoiding IEDs. The war left a lasting impression on John's generation, from the feeling of fighting for what is right to gaining despair over restrictions on force engagement.

"Towards the end of my tour I realized we were more of a police force keeping the Sunnis and Shia apart than soldiers," he said. John left the Army after Iraq, but the U.S. Army school of hard knocks he experienced as a young adult stayed with him, and you can hear it in his music.
"Fire" carries with it a sense of giving up after trying hard to make a relationship work. Two other songs that have momentum on the new record are "Breathe" and "Wish You the World."

"Breathe," a fast-paced rock song, tells us that "You want to feel alive, you need to bleed for something." While "Wish You the World" has a southern rock vibe and is a break-up song. "Well if the rumors are true, How big's the ring? How fine are you?" the song asks.
John has both feet in the Texas Country Music scene. He developed a touring app and web platform called Band2G for band management that offers insights into where an upstart band has radio airplay. You can build a tour from hot spot to hot spot.
San Angelo and westward show promise for the band, the app shows. It's likely because the Teague Brothers Band's 2022 hit "Pipeliner" is on many playlists. That song is an ode to the oil field worker.
The Teague Brothers Band performs live at the Arc Light Bar & Grill inside the Clarion Hotel on Friday night, Oct. 31, 2025. Reagan Helms opens. There is a $10 cover charge at the door.
