HOLLYWOOD — The first trailer for the next entry into the Jurassic Park franchise has dropped.
This summer, take a trip back to Jurassic Park with Jurassic World: Rebirth, a film that has promised to bring back the horror element to the franchise.
The synopsis for Jurassic World: Rebirth reads:
“Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they thrived. The three most colossal creatures across land, sea, and air within that tropical biosphere hold, in their DNA, the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.
“(Scarlett) Johansson plays skilled covert operations expert Zora Bennett, contracted to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure the genetic material. When Zora’s operation intersects with a civilian family whose boating expedition was capsized by marauding aquatic dinos, they all find themselves stranded on a forbidden island that once housed an undisclosed research facility for Jurassic Park. There, in a terrain populated by dinosaurs of vastly different species, they come face-to-face with a sinister, shocking discovery that has been hidden from the world for decades.”
From the looks of the trailer, this team of characters is going into the most dangerous areas to get DNA to help humanity.
We see a lot of new and old dinosaurs such as the Titanosaurus, Quetzalcoatlus, Dilophosaurus, Spinosaurus, and Mosasaurus. Also, the Tyrannosaurus Rex and, of course, Raptors. Then, a new mutant dinosaur that has been described as a mix between a Rancor from Star Wars, a Xenomorph from Alien, and the T-Rex.
Jurassic World: Rebirth is directed by Gareth Edwards (Rouge One: A Star Wars Story, Godzilla) off a script written by David Koepp, who wrote the original Jurassic Park along with War of the Worlds, and Spider-Man.
The cast includes:
- Scarlett Johansson (Avengers franchise, Jojo Rabbit) as Zora Bennett
- Jonathan Bailey (Wicked, The Mercy) as Dr. Henry Loomis
- Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, Hidden Figures) as Duncan Kincaid
- Rupert Friend (Pride & Prejudice, The Death of Stalin) as Martin Krebs
- Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Magnificent Seven, Widows) as Reuben Delgado
Jurassic World: Rebirth is set to hit theaters on July 2, 2025.
