HOLLYWOOD— The first teaser trailer for Marvel’s First Family that introduces them to the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been released online.
The trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps has been released, and it doesn’t reveal much.
The Fantastic Four has been on the minds of comic fans for quite some time and every one of them was waiting for Marvel to introduce them to the to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, we have our first official looks at Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/ The Human Torch. We also got our first look at how the big bad Galactus will look in the film as well.
The official synopsis reads:
“Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960’s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, Marvel Studio’s “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” introduces Marvel’s First Family— Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm as they face their most daunting challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer. And if Galactus’ plan is to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.”
First Steps looks to bring a must more comic accurate look to Galactus as he was adapted in 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, as a huge cosmic cloud. In the comics, Galactus consumes planets to keep himself alive.
Since all the films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or MCU, are connected, in 2024's Deadpool & Wolverine, it established (in other projects as well) that there is multiverse so this "Earth" could just be one of an infinite number. Fans should get more clarity as Marvel continues to release future films.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is directed by Matt Shakman, who has directed episodes of Game of Thrones, The Boys, Wandavision, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, among others.
The cast includes:
- Pedro Pascal (Gladiator II, The Last of Us) as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic
- Vanessa Kirby (Mission Impossible franchise, Pieces of a Woman) as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman
- Joseph Quinn (Gladiator II, Stranger Things) as Johnny Storm/Human Torch
- Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear, Andor) as Ben Grimm/The Thing
- Ralph Ineson (Chernobyl, Nosferatu) as Galactus
- Julia Garner (Ozark, Wolfman) as Silver Surfer
Also slated to appear are John Malkovich (The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, RED) as Red Ghost (apparently), Paul Walter Hauser (Black Bird, Richard Jewell), and Natasha Lyonne (American Pie, Orange is the New Black).
Also set to appear is Robert Downey Jr. (Avengers, Oppenheimer) as Dr. Victor Von Doom.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters this summer, July 25, 2025.
