FORT WORTH, TX — Premiering on Paramount+ this Nov. 17, Taylor Sheridan’s new series "Landman" delves into the high-stakes world of the Permian Basin’s oil industry. One of the scenes in the preview features the Permian High School Panthers charging onto the football field at Odessa’s iconic Ratliff Stadium.
Inspired by Texas Monthly’s podcast series Boomtown, produced by West Texas journalist Christian Wallace from 2019-2020, the show takes viewers deep into the lives of the roughnecks and the billionaires fueling West Texas’ oil boom.
Academy Award-winner Billy Bob Thornton stars as Tommy Norris, a seasoned landman, leading a talented ensemble cast including Demi Moore ("About Last Night") and Jon Hamm ("Mad Men"). Ali Larter plays Norris’s wife, Angela, while Michelle Randolph ("1923") and Jacob Lofland ("Joker 2") portray their children.
The show’s cast also features James Jordan ("Yellowstone"), Kayla Wallace ("When Calls the Heart"), Mark Collie ("Nashville"), and Paulina Chávez ("The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia"). Special guest appearances include Andy Garcia ("The Expendables") and Michael Peña ("End of Watch"). Filming primarily took place in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, capturing both the spirit of West Texas and the gritty world of oil.
Known for his acclaimed series "Yellowstone," "1883," and "1923," Sheridan brings his signature storytelling to "Landman," exploring the intense world of land leasing and drilling. The series launches with two episodes on Nov. 17, with the remaining eight dropping weekly on Sundays.
Sheridan’s fan-favorite "Yellowstone" will also continue with its final season releasing weekly episodes starting Nov. 10.
