NSFW: No One Can Hear You Scream in New Alien Movie Trailer

SAN ANGELO, TX — The first trailer for the new Alien movie, "Alien Romulus," has been released.

While the Alien franchise has gotten into prequels recently, Alien Romulus looks to be more in the vein of Prey, something that reinvigorated fans of Predator, so Romulus will look to do the same for Alien.

Alien Romulus isn’t a prequel, like Alien Covenant and Prometheus, and brings a new cast to be terrorized by the xenomorph.

The first trailer for Alien Romulus does have some bad language. Viewer discretion is advised.

The synopsis reads:

While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.

The franchise has been focused on explaining the whys and hows of the xenomorphs and the engineers. With Prometheus, they were focused on finding the clues to the origins of mankind and uncovered, with horrifying results. In Covenant, the crew found the android from Prometheus, deadset on creating the xenomorph we know today.

Alien Romulus isn’t a prequel and doesn’t have anything to do with explaining where the alien came from. It is set 20 years after the events of Alien, where audience members first meet Ripley and the alien. The first Alien movie was set in 2122, so Romulus takes place in 2142, 37 years before the space marines took on the Alien infestation in Aliens.

In other words, Romulus is set completely on its own and is not connected to any other films in the franchise.

Alien Romulus is directed by horror director Fede Alverez (Evil Dead, Don’t Breathe) and has the following cast:

  • Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla, Civil War) as Rain Carradine
  • David Jonsson (Rye Lane, Industry) as Andy
  • Archie Renaux (The Greatest Beer Run Ever, Morbius) as Tyler
  • Isabela Merced (Instant Family, Transformers Franchise) as Kay
  • Spike Fearn (The Batman, Aftersun) as Bjorn

Alien: Romulus hits theaters on August 16, 2024.
