‘Black Tie Cowboy’ Event To Transform Downtown San Angelo

SAN ANGELO, TX - Art in Uncommon Places has announced the entertainment lineup for its upcoming event, "Black Tie Cowboy."

It will happen on Tuesday, May 7, from 5 to 7 p.m., in downtown San Angelo.

Information describes Black Tie Cowboy as a three-block art installation donated to the City of San Angelo by Art in Uncommon Places.

“The addition of sculptures, murals, vinyl mesh photos in windows, and seating is a welcomed site to our newly developed Chadbourne Streetscape,” information stated.

The theme, Black Tie Cowboy, was said to represent San Angelo’s history of being tied to famous cowboys and cowgirls in multiple arenas of life.

In collaboration with the City of San Angelo and Downtown Inc., Chadbourne Street will be closed from the parking lot at Twisted Root to Beauregard.

The entertainment lineup for Black Tie Cowboy includes:

  • Thomas Liggett – Cowboy Statue: Witness the “awe-inspiring” Cowboy Statue on Chadbourne Street before Concho, paying homage to the Western heritage of San Angelo.
  • Patrick Bubenik – Fire Throwing: Experience the "mesmerizing spectacle" of fire throwing on Chadbourne Street before Twohig, as Patrick Bubenik showcases his talent.
  • Concho Cowboys – Gun Fight: Prepare to be transported back in time as the Concho Cowboys stage a gunfight in front of Dead Horse at 6 p.m., bringing the Wild West to life.
  • Doug Whitaker – Gunslinger, Whip, Trick Roper: Marvel at the skill and dexterity of Doug Whitaker as he demonstrates his prowess as a gunslinger, whip master, and trick roper on Chadbourne Street before Beauregard.
  • Dedra Knox, Dallas Caraway, and Aiden Raymond – Live Music: Enjoy the soulful melodies and foot-stomping beats of Dedra Knox, Dallas Caraway, and Aiden Raymond as they serenade the crowd with their performances.
  • Kids Stick Horse Races: Delight in the laughter and excitement of kids' horse races, taking place on one of the stars in the intersection, providing fun for the whole family.

In addition to the entertainment lineup, attendees can indulge in a variety of treats and goodies provided by local businesses, including chicharrones and salsa from Fuentes, popcorn from Circuit Breaker, beer from Plateau Brewery, water from Fat Boss, temporary tattoos from Trufant Brothers, merchandise from Whiskey 1933, pork tacos from Angry Cactus, pickles from Twisted Root, and wine from Texas Angels.

Volunteers will be on hand throughout the evening to assist with donations and oversee the horse stick races. A red carpet will be rolled out to welcome guests in style, with local personality Troy Harvey adding his “unique flair” to the event.

"Black Tie Cowboy promises to be a celebration of San Angelo's vibrant arts scene and community spirit," information stated. "Don't miss out on this opportunity to experience the magic of downtown San Angelo and celebrate Art in Uncommon Places."
