San Angelo Native With Millions of Followers Selected as ‘Top Creator’ for VidCon 2024

SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo native and rising star on TikTok and YouTube has been invited to VidCon as one of its top creators.

21-year-old Autumn Monique Salazar has amassed over 9.8 million followers on TikTok and nearly 5 million subscribers on YouTube.

Information states that VidCon is where "digital culture takes center stage as the world’s leading digital creators, platform innovators, and their fans converge in one place."

VidCon 2024 is scheduled for June 26-29 at the Anaheim Convention Center in California.

Salazar said she started her social media career during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

“I’ve done it my whole life,” she said. “I kind of just blew up during that time period when everyone was home.”

Salazar describes her content on Tiktok as “acting videos.” Salazar mentioned that she also provides content for Disney by producing “Lilo and Stitch content.”

Disney saw that and contacted Salazar, inviting her to Disney World for “Stitch Day” two years ago.

Salazar is currently attending Angelo State University and is majoring in biology.

Her expected graduation date is December 2024.

Regarding VidCon, she said that VidCon contacted her management team.

She said she is one of the biggest content creators for VidCon’s younger audience.

"So, they reached out to me for a meet and greet and to do interviews with some fans," Salazar said, mentioning she was “super nervous.”

"I have to go on stage and do a bunch of Q&A stuff," she said. "It’ll be pretty fun."

When she discovered she was selected, Salazar said she was “in shock.”

“Because it’s honestly been one of my dreams since I was little,” she said. “I used to look up to the creators that went, and now that I’m one of the creators, I’m shocked. It’s amazing.”

She said that she is looking forward to meeting her fans the most.

"People from all over the world come to this one, so I’m excited about that," Salazar said. "A lot of companies come to VidCon and reach out to different creators, and I’m excited about that."

Regarding future aspirations, Salazar wants to make more music, "pop music," to be exact.

"I’m actually working with my management team to make music," she said. "I have a few songs out now, but I’ve been busy with school, so I’ve just been focusing on school. But I think next, I’ll probably do more music videos and music."

"This is one of my biggest accomplishments," she said. "I’m really proud."

When it comes to advice, Salazar said to be "consistent and post what you love."
