San Jacinto Elementary PTO Hosts 1st Santa Dash Color Run

SAN ANGELO TX - Karla Cardenas, a proud native of San Angelo and a dedicated business owner with deep roots in the city, is spearheading the inaugural Santa Dash Color Fun Run alongside the San Jacinto Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO). The event is scheduled to take place on Monday, December 18th, promising a vibrant celebration while supporting a vital cause.

Having spent her entire elementary school career at San Jacinto Elementary, Cardenas holds a special connection to the school, a legacy passed down to her own three children now attending the institution. Determined to fortify the San Jacinto spirit for generations to come, she emphasizes the significance of the school within her family's heritage and the wider community.

The San Jacinto PTO, operating in its maiden year, operates as a non-profit organization relying heavily on the goodwill and efforts of parents and teachers volunteering their time and resources to propel its mission forward.

The PTO's journey this year has been one of resilience and determination. The school faced a formidable challenge earlier in the year when the threat of closure loomed over San Jacinto Elementary. In response, a robust community effort emerged, initiating a months-long battle to safeguard the school's existence. Through town hall meetings, passionate testimonials, and unwavering support from community members, the collective outcry successfully averted the closure, preserving the legacy of San Jacinto, San Angelo's oldest school.

She emphasized the power of collective action and the pivotal role played by community leaders, amplifying the voices advocating for the school's continuation.

In a letter addressing the San Jacinto PTO's aspirations, Cardenas seeks support and participation from local businesses, organizations, and individuals for the upcoming Santa Dash Color Fun Run. The event aims to rally support and funds, fostering a fun-filled occasion for elementary school kids while accentuating the unity and strength within the San Angelo community.

The event, hosted at the Old Bobcat Stadium located at 1000 Pulliam St., stands as a testament to the community's solidarity and commitment to nurturing educational excellence at San Jacinto Elementary.
