Godzilla x Kong Go to War in Sequel

HOLLYWOOD— The first trailer for new Godzilla x Kong movie has dropped.

In 2021, Godzilla and Kong went to war when Godzilla was acting out trying to stop Apex Cybernetics, who was building Mechagodzilla. After that, the two titular monsters took on the mech, destroying it and proving themselves the best.

But in that movie, Kong went to Hollow Earth, another subterranean landmass where the giant creatures lived. In The New Empire, a community of Kong sized monkeys features a new threat. The official synopsis reads:

This latest entry in the Monsterverse franchise follows up the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs. Kong with an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own. The epic new film will delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins, and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.

Godzilla v Kong: The New Empire is directed by Adam Wingard, who also helmed 2021’s Godzilla v Kong. The film’s cast includes:

  • Rebecca Hall (Gozilla v Kong, Iron Man 3) as Dr. Ilene Andrews
  • Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta, Joker) as Bernie Hayes
  • Dan Stevens (Beauty and the Beast, The Sea Beast)

The new monster film also brings back Kaylee Hottle as Jia and brings in Fala Chen, Alex Ferns, and Rachel House.

Godzilla vs Kong: The New Empire roars into theaters on April 12, 2024.
